Eric jumped up and down when we found out that you were born, Lucia. (He never does that so you know you’re a big deal). Welcome to the world. You are going to have the greatest parents in the universe! We’ve been praying for you. I know a little girl named Lucia who lives in Vermont and she has been a blessing to me her whole life. (She’s 11). Though she’s only a 7th grader she’s already got a boyfriend. Maybe you’ll be a fiesty one too. Watch out mom and dad!
Much love and prayers for you all,
Allie

Hi Lucy,
You will be excited to get to know your parents in the days to come and I am sure they will tell you about two other important people that were born on your birthday…
Oliver Cromwell and William of Orange.
Welcome to this new life and may your days be many, your burdens be light and your pathway be lit by the light of God’s Word.

Hi Lucy. We’ll be praying for you and your parents, especially that your name and arrival season (spring, the time when each day brings more hours of light!) will be a reminder of the Light that came into the World many years ago, a light that brings light into our hearts.

Way to join the outside world, Miss Thang!
Seriously though,
Be sure to listen to those parents of yours because they care a lot about you; and when they tell you that your eyes will stay that way when you cross them, that there are no monsters under the bed, or that God loves you- you’d better believe ‘em.
Hope to meet you soon,
Sean “Maggie” Wagner

I am so happy that you are here! You are our little miracle baby and your parents wanted you more than anything in this world! Warmly, Patty B
April 25th, 2006 at 8:26 pm
I only know your mom and dad because of you, through their love for and excitement in preparing to greet you. Even that brief encounter was enough to restore a little more of my faith in love and parents and the fact that God knows all about what He is doing. You are a lovely little girl to look at, based on the pictures, and with your parents to guide you I know you will be lovely in all the really important ways too! Welcome Little Lucy Cub – take care of Mama and Papa Bear, they are learning too!
April 25th, 2006 at 8:34 pm
Welcome, lovely, little Lucy.
April 25th, 2006 at 8:37 pm
Lucia. A beautiful name. I hope there are pictures here soon. I can’t wait until you are old enough to read this. So here is the deal – please do not forget that you are 1/4 Gortner – be proud!! Be Gortneresque! It’s gift from your Grandfather, NCG and your Great-Grand Father RMG. ... and while you’re at it, be Insolia-esque and Boydesque, too. Love, G-UT.
April 25th, 2006 at 8:44 pm
Lucy,
where on earth are the adorable baby photos for us to goo over? A whole baby website devoted to text? Despite being created on a Mac?
:o) I’m seriously impressed with Deb C’s ability to goo even without pictures.
congratulations on having a wonderful name! (Daniel disagrees with this particular comment, which is why our own daughter’s name is not Lucy.)
...and on having two parents who will model Christ for you, imperfectly but clearly enough for you to choose, we trust, to follow him alongside us.
As well as teach you all sorts of cool but useless things like kite-flying and what an octothorp is. Things that ultimately don’t matter but, I hope, will give you a taste and a hunger for knowledge and learning which will lead you again and again to the creator of all joys and wonder.
love from Aunt Kelly, Uncle Daniel… (camp staff are addressed as aunt and uncle by most of the younger camp kids)
...and four just-slightly-larger-than-you kids, who will enjoy playing with you on a nearby beach in some not-so-distant summer.
April 25th, 2006 at 8:45 pm
oops, just found your beautiful photo on your parents’ site. Goo. :o)

Lucia,
Generally I will tell as you grow up to be careful about believing the things that Allie tells you. However, it is true. The news of your birth caused me to jump up and down. You have a lot of power for such a little girl.
Welcome to this world. We’ve been praying for you for a long time. You have been born into such a wonderful family. I hope your life is filled with all of the joy that you have already brought to everyone who has posted here.

Dear Lucy Martha, I can’t wait to hold you and pray for you in person. Been praying for you a long time and I’m so glad you are now here. I hope you like red roses! There will be one at church this Sunday in your honor. It celebrates your welcome to the community of Christ. His fragrance is wonderful. And you are like a little Lucy peddle full of His creative fragrance. love and design.
May we shower you with grace at Grace Covenant Church. (That’s where your Mom and Dad go, so we will see you there. I think Daddy might have to hold you in church so Mommy can keep knitting something for special for you while she listens to the message. You will be well cared for and knitted for.) I’ll see you soon!!
Love, Deb Gustafson
